CROC WORLD!

the dashing brian
After the zulu village we went next door to croc world!! okay so the place isn't really called croc world, it's actually just a crocodile farm that is part of phe-zulu, but croc world sounds much better.

our guides name was brian, an unlike his co-workers in the zulu village he brought his A game to work that day! he was awesome and the place had more crocs than crocodile dundee's birthday party.

photo edited for free at www.pizap.comthe crocs were separated by age due to the fact that the older crocs like to have the younger ones for dinner if they're not careful. the one brain is poking with a stick in the photo above is one of the teenagers! so you can image how big the older crocs are! these nile crocs can live for up to 160 years and up to 900 pounds! and yes, normally facts about scaly creepy old reptiles would be boring but brian was hilarious and made everything so interesting!

junior is the name of the oldest croc at the farm at a whopping 107 years old!!  usually male crocodiles will have about 4 to 6 females that they mate with, however, junior only stays with one female named helen.  apparently helen gets very jealous when other females try to get around junior, so jealous, that she even attacked one so severely that it died. crazy crocs!

if you're lucky enough you can participate in the fear factor challenge that they hold.  if you can survive an entire lunch in junior and helen's yard, you get a certificate congratulating you for completing the croc farm fear factor challenge. personally, i think i would rather get a bite of lunch somewhere else than at a croc farm. hahaha no pun intended!

photo edited for free at www.pizap.comafter the crocs we went to the snake sections!!! i was terrified to discover how many dangerous snakes are so common in south africa! one has the fastest bite in the world and can bite a balloon twice before it actually pops! how crazy is that! there was another than only one drop of its venom can kill 50 people!

i volunteered to hold a garden snake and decided then and there i wanted a pet snake named fluffy! and guess what the name of the next snake we got to meet was! fluffy!!! this one was just a little bit bigger! :)

fluffy was a 3 year old boa constrictor who weighted 50 pounds! it was so chilled out and i swear you could do anything to it! it started wrapping around me and it was the weirdest feeling ever! it was such a fun experience made that much better by our wonderful guide :) i have defiantly decided that i like snakes! too bad shaun is absolutely terrified by them!!! haha
